The Au Pairs - Melissa de la Cruz

The Au Pairs (The Au Pairs, #1)

Goodreads Summary: Three girls with three agends and the ultimate destination: the Hamptons.

Summer in the city? Way overrated. Everybody who's anybody in New York City summers in the Hamptons. Mara, Eliza, and Jacqui all want a piece of the action, all for different reasons. So the girls answer a classified ad to become au pairs. How bad can it be, watching a couple of kids on the beach all day? They've got the swank address, the sweet ride, and an all-access pass to the hottest social scene on the East Coast. It's shaping up to be the summer of their lives.

Why I Read This Book: This one caught my eye on Goodreads one day, so I got it from the library.

Review: This was a great summer read. I though the characters were all idiots, but they were supposed to be, that's what made it good. It also made me want to be an au pair in the Hamptons for a summer, however realistic that is. The book made it sound like the perfect mix of exhausting and awesome. Even though I have been meaning to read the Blue Bloods series, this is the first book of Cruz's I have read, and I liked the writing, it is very contemporary YA in this, which is the perfect read anywhere in a day kind of this. I polished this off on the deck with some frozen cocktails while on an at home stay-cation, so that definitely contributed to the fact that I didn't see much not to like about the book! However, it's story wasn't overly unique, so already I can't remember what happened, and for that reason I can't say it was fantastic.

September is for Sequels

Hello All;

I just read about a neat challenge over at Lisa Loves Literature where she is challenging herself (and others) to start picking up the sequels to some of the series books we are working our way through. I know if you are like me, you read the first book in a ton of series' and then move on to the next one. It seems like I have my hands in everything, but never finish any of them!

I'm a little late signing up, so I won't be able to get much read, but I'll try :)
I hope to get to:

City of Ashes - Cassandra Clare
The Last Little Blue Envelope - Maureen Johnson
and
Gloty In Death - J.D. Robb

It's not an ambition list, as I am currently in the middle of two large books, and I also plan to start Game of Thrones this month. But, I liked the idea of this challenge, so I couldn't pass on signing up! If you like it so, don't hesitate to head over and add yourself!

Waiting on Wednesday! PS: I NEED HELP!!

There isn't a particular book I am waiting on, however I am waiting on some very book related business. My ereader will not let me add books using the Kobo Desktop app. I bought 7 books which I want very very badly to get on there (with the first 4 Song of Ice and Fire being the main ones) but when I connect it, it says it syncs, but the books are not there.
I really don't want to have to do a full reboot, because I have over 100 books on there right now (still says there is tons of room to add more tho). I am willing to do this if necessary, but I want to finish the library book I am reading (The Host) first, so I don't have to go on the wait list again.
I had received a bunch of e books from a friend that she had bought for a different reader and added them to mine using Calibre, could this be what is causing the problem? If it is, is there any way I can add the Kobo books using Calibre to beat this issue? I want to keep borrowing e books from friends and from the library (cause books are expensive!) but not if its going to mess with my ereader.

Computer knowing friends - please help me!! I would be sooo grateful!!

Top Ten Books On Your Fall TBR List

Hello! I missed last week's post! Only getting to my TTT every second week is beginning to become a reoccurring theme in my blog. I think with summer ending, I will probably be a little more committed! So that's good. I'm not in love with this weeks topic of Top Ten Books That Make You Think sooo, I'm going to do last week's! Which is:

Top Ten Books On Your Fall TBR List

1) The Truth About Forever - Sarah Dessen
2) Shiver - Maggie Stiefvater

4) Twenties Girl - Sophie Kinsella
5) Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen

The Truth About ForeverShiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)
Twenties GirlWater for Elephants

6) The Unbecoming of Mar Dyer - Michelle Hodkin
7) The DUFF - Kody Keplinger
8) Daughter of Smoke and Bones - Lani Taylor
9) City of Ashes - Cassandra Clare
10) Before I Fall - Lauren Oliver

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1)The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat FriendDaughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1)

Anyway, I look forward to reading everyones list about the actual topic assigned this week, but perhaps I will also hop around and look at last weeks link too!

Frostbite by Richelle Mead

Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2)

Goodreads Summary: Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians - including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn't bad enough, Rose's tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason's got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

Why I Read This Book: I read the first in this series and enjoyed it, so I will read them all.

Review:  I like these books so far. (Unfortunately I read this over a week ago, so I don't have great amounts of detail to add to this review...) Rose's character really grew in this book compared to the first. Her relationship with her mother was interesting to read about, as was her feelings toward Mason. I have definitely been in a position to wonder if settling for something 'comfortable' would be a good choice, so I could related there. I thought this book was really missing the Rose/Lissa relationship, and I like reading about them together. But, that is exactly what happens when someone gets a boyfriend, so at least it was authentic!

I like these books, they are quick, good reads. I look forward to Shadow Kiss.

August Wrap-Up - 2012 TBR Challenge

This month I read 3 books which count toward my challenge for this year. I tried to catch on on some new books, so this was all I was able to read and get posted about:

Second Helpings (Jessica Darling, #2)Let the Great World Spin13 Little Blue Envelopes (Little Blue Envelope, #1)

August has been a decent month for me reading wise, I got 2 review books in, and read a few other new-ish books that came out this year. We have been having such a fantastic summer that I have spend a lot of time outside though, and even more time watching 30 Rock (I love that show!)

For this month's challenge with the wrap up post, Angel @ Mermaid Vision Books asked us to send our favorite character on vacation! I think this is a fantastic idea, however I'm not going to participate this time, as I just don't have time to dream it up! Fresh back from my own vacation, I think I just need to think about work now! Best of luck to the participants though!

Happy Fall Reading!

Back in the (New York) Groove Starting Tomorrow

Or maybe not really New York at all, but hey a girl can dream.

I had the week off work for a 'stay-cation' and decided to take the week pretty much off the computer as well, so I haven't been updating my blog, tweeting, facebooking, or replying to emails. I know I have a few reviews in my inbox, but I will get to them soon. However, last night I tried to upload some new books to my Kobo and it wouldn't work... so maybe I might not get to do any reviews. Boo.

Anyway, I just didn't want anyone to think I died or anything - just enjoying some well deserved (IMO anyway!) time off! "See" you tomorrow! I have been reading at least, so I have some reviews to catch up on, and a wrap up post for August to do!
